Full, and ready to go!

It's night time here in Ensenada after a long day of travel. We sat down tonight with the family we will be building for, along with their pastor and his wife. The evening dinner was full of hand gestures, laughter, miscommunication, etc. Hilarious. But the family shared their very powerful story. For 2 years, the wife has been waiting for an opportunity, and described seeing the lumber sitting on her property as "the beginning of a dream come true." Several years ago, as her husband and her were returning from an evening, two street racers slammed into their car, killing her husband. The journey of rediscovering who God is has been difficult, but she feels so so grateful for this opportunity. Let's just say there were few dry eyes around!
After a delicious dinner of tacos, the team encountered what was probably a more challenging aspect of the trip: a different way of doing faith. The director here shared about the radicality of the Christian life in a way that many on the team were not used to. So there were many great conversations. There is good stuff happening!! :D
Anyway, it is past curfew so I should be heading to bed. Thanks for all your prayers. Oh, and by the way, they are forecasting rain (which is what you get when there's a team from Portland and one from West Vancouver! haha). So, if it does rain, please pray for healthy spirits and bodies.

Vivian at the beach.

I know, we're THAT cool. ;)

For Ross.

For Glenn.

These are some of Dylon, Katie and I's friends: Maja in the black, visiting from Ontario, and Rhonda in the red, who works here full-time.

Ok...confession time: it's not THAT warm here. ;)

  1. Wow! What a story. And to think, you guys have the opportunity to make a difference for the family...what a privilege. Have a great day tomorrow. You should all feel quite at home in rain and cool temps. ;-)

  2. Can we put that statue of Jesus on top of West Van United? We are so excited to see what God is doing to you and through you all on this mission trip.
    Much love,
    Ross.
